Improving the corners of the mouth

Saturday, March 31st, 2012, 1:29 pm

As we age the corners of the mouth start to downturn which creates a “perma-frown” and sad look. There are different surgical procedures to correct this such as a corner-lift but these procedures create permanent visible scars that are easily visible. My preference is to correct this problem with fillers. Restylane and Juvederm are the two most common fillers that I use for this purpose. Both of these are safe and easily administered in the office. With a few injections, the filler plumps in the depression below the corner of the mouth which gives an instant lift to that area. The results are immediate and there is no scarring. The fillers are not permanent and do wear off between 6 and 12 months but there is often a little fibrous tissue that occurs in response to the fillers so the effect is sometimes visible for longer. If you are interested in correcting your down-turned corners of the mouth call and schedule your appointment. I can often do the injections at the same time as your consultation.
