Breast lift surgery can help patients whose breasts have begun to sag and droop. At our practice, serving Cleveland, Mayfield Heights, and surrounding areas, Dr. Jason Leedy is a skilled breast lift surgeon with many years of experience in all manner of breast surgery. Dr. Leedy can lift the breasts to a more desirable position, eliminating excess skin and creating a tighter, firmer bustline.
Breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that is designed to eliminate excess skin in the breast area and lift the breasts to create a firmer, more youthful appearance. The procedure can help women who are suffering from breast sag due to:
- Weight loss
- Genetic disposition
Our plastic surgeon, serving the Cleveland, Mayfield Heights and surrounding areas, can combine breast lift with breast augmentation to provide patients with an enlarged bustline more proportionate to their body frame. Please contact the Cleveland Plastic Surgery Institute for more information, or to schedule a consultation.
Breast Lift Procedure
At your initial breast lift consultation, Dr. Jason Leedy will explain the procedure to you in detail, including its risks, benefits, and alternatives. Dr. Leedy will encourage you to be honest about your expectations and will address any questions or concerns you may have.
Here at our Cleveland facility, Dr. Leedy uses a variety of breast lift techniques to minimize scarring. The traditional approach involves making an anchor-shaped incision following the natural contour of the breast. Dr. Leedy will eliminate excess skin that causes the appearance of droopiness, and then reposition the nipples to a higher area of the breasts. The surrounding skin will be tightened and re-draped, making the breast area more firm and “perky.” With short-scar breast lift techniques, Dr. Leedy can make residual scarring as discreet as possible, and most scars will fade over time. Breast lift is typically performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis.
Breast Lift Recovery
Breast lift patients should expect some degree of swelling, bruising, and numbness after the procedure; however, these side effects should dissipate within two to three weeks. Medication can control any residual pain and discomfort. In very rare occurrences, patients have reported areas of permanent numbness following breast lift surgery. Dr. Leedy will discuss all possible complications, and how risks of the procedure can be minimized, during the initial consultation.
Breast Lift Risks
As with any surgical procedure, breast lift does carry some risk. Complications that can arise from breast lift surgery include:
- Reaction to anesthesia
- Loss of nipple sensation
- Areas of permanent numbness on the breast
- Asymmetry of the breasts
- Excessive scarring
Many of the complications associated with breast lift are very rare. Dr. Jason Leedy has extensive experience and training in breast lift procedures, and will work with you to minimize any potential risks.
