Breast Reduction
Although many of our patients from the northeast Ohio region, including Cleveland, Mayfield Heights, and surrounding areas, request breast augmentation with breast implants or a breast lift, many other patients we see are burdened by oversized breasts. In addition to drawing unwanted attention, this condition can detract from an active lifestyle and contribute to back and neck problems, as well as rashes under the breast fold. By making the breasts more proportionate, breast reduction surgery can allow you to regain your confidence and the freedom to do the things you love. A breast reduction can be performed as an out-patient procedure under general anesthesia. The procedure involves an incision made around the areola and down the underside of the breast, ultimately forming an anchor shape. Excess fat, tissue, and skin will be removed, and the nipples repositioned to a higher location. The entire breast reduction procedure typically takes about three to four hours to complete.
Following breast reduction, patients are normally able to return to work in about a week. More demanding activities such as exercising may be resumed gradually after two or three weeks.
