Dr. Leedy performs several facelift procedures, ensuring that there’s a surgery to meet everyone’s needs.
During a traditional facelift, Dr. Leedy cuts your skin and lifts it from your face. He tightens your muscles and removes excess skin and fat. He redrapes your skin over your face and closes your incisions.
With a deep-plane facelift, Dr. Leedy addresses sagging skin on your jaw, neck, and cheeks. He repositions the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS), which restores your face’s deeper soft tissues and adds youthful contours to your cheeks.
Dr. Leedy completes most facelifts under general anesthesia and as outpatient procedures. Once the anesthesia is administered, Dr. Leedy begins making his incisions on your face. He keeps these incisions on your hairline and along your facial contours, making scars less noticeable.
He then tightens this skin, stretching it to eliminate wrinkles, lines, texture issues, and creases. If necessary, he removes fat pockets in strategic places from your face. After repositioning your skin, he trims any excess, closes the incisions, and bandages your face.
Most facelifts take three to five hours to complete.
Depending on your goals, Dr. Leedy may recommend other facial rejuvenation procedures to compliment your facelift and optimize your results. This can include:
After your facelift, you may experience bruising, swelling, and mild discomfort. Your bandages need to stay in place for a few days and keep your head elevated. Medication can help reduce any discomfort or pain.
After 10 days, most patients can return to work on light duty. Avoid strenuous activities and protect your face as much as possible for at least two weeks.
